These rules, as approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), require monitoring of hydration of all wrestlers beginning with the 2006-2007 Wrestling season. After putting a few drops of sample on the prism, you hold it to the light and read an internal scale which will give you the specific gravity reading number. The number on the scale corresponds to levels of hydration. Both are very affordable instruments for use with high school wrestling programs.”

In addition, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has approved the PAL-10S to be used for this application.
